ATTICA ZOO
Biomimicry
Our SLP student Andreas Stratigopoulos grew a mycelium brick, a material inspired by the interior structure of Toco Toucan (Ramphastos toco) bill, using the biomimicry approach. The new material's function is an alternative to conventional insulating materials in architecture and in general. It is light, strong and fireproof.

Raising Awareness & Communication
SLP students participated in the pan-European event "Researchers' Night 2024" for 8 years in a row, improving general public awareness about the importance of protecting the Earth's biodiversity. Beside participation in national and international events, our students actively contribute to environmental awareness, days organized for zoo visitors every weekend throughout the academic year.
Furthermore they empower communities and individuals to take action for wildlife conservation.
